From launching the EO Brands, one of the first brands produced by Don Pepin Garcia back in Pepin’s early days, Erik Espinosa has been on the cutting edge of creating blends like 601, Cubao, Murcielago and La Bomba. The launching of the Murcielago line was one of the first blends to use a San Andres maduro wrapper and soon after it began showing up on brands everywhere starting a trend and giving a resurgence of this tobacco type.
Erik has been creating cigars that smokers have come to love, so it was only a natural progression for him to start his own factory in Esteli, Nicaragua called La Zona. The fist release from this new factory, the Espinosa Habano, is a medium-bodied, well-constructed smoke. Little has been revealed regarding the blend, but we do know it is a Nicaraguan cigar blended with a Habano wrapper.
The result is a cigar that produces a rich array of flavors from woody notes to sweet peppery spice. Notes of cocoa with earthy flavors develop as the cigar progresses and peppery notes appear on the finish. The Espinosa Habano cigar line is currently available in 4 popular sizes in boxes of 20 cigars. We expect some great things to come from Erik and his new La Zona factory.
