Cigar smokers loved L’Atelier so much that it was only a matter of time before L'Atelier Imports, a joint project of Tatuaje's Pete Johnson and his friends K.C. Johnson, Sean Johnson and Dan Welsh, released a maduro version. The L'Atelier Maduro was showcased at the 2013 IPCPR Trade Show in Las Vegas and began to sell quite rapidly shortly thereafter.
The cigars, like Tatuaje, are blended by Pete Johnson and rolled by the My Father Cigars factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. A hefty and complex cigar with nice, rounded maduro flavors, the Maduro is comprised of a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper and rich aged long leaf Nicaraguan filler tobacco. Pete Johnson is particularly gifted with Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, which he uses in many of his releases, but the show stealer from this cigar is the Sancti Spiritus binder. Sancti Spiritus is a special hybrid tobacco developed by the Oliva tobacco growing family in Ecuador. The leaf is a cross between Criollo and Pelo de Oro varietals, a truly delicious combination indeed!
