The Viaje Late Harvest cigars are extremely limited production boutique cigars. They are the creation of Viaje founder and owner Andre Farkas, a notorious experimenter in the cigar world. The concept behind this blend is the use of the last primings (primings are the levels of leaves on a tobacco plant stalk) of the plant, which are allowed to sit on the stalk longer and continue to absorb nutrients. Because the last primings to get harvested are on the top of the plant, they also receive the most sunlight, which in turn produces a richer tasting and stronger tobacco.
Late Harvest is a tribute to the wine world, and although the tobacco is not harvested late in the season the way late harvest wine grapes are, the fillers used are the last tobacco primings to be harvested, making for a richer. hardier smoke.
As always, these Viaje cigars are sure to sell out in record time. Andre Farkas has been creating some outstanding cigars, as well as the factory in which they are produced, the Raices Cubanas factory in Honduras, part of the Casa Fernandez cigar company. Late Harvest production is an estimated 125 boxes in two sizes packed with 35 cigars each, making this line an ultra boutique run.
