Partagas Ramon Y Ramon Cigars
The Partagas brand has a long and proud history as a premium cigar brand. Well General Cigar Company makers of Partagas has decided to create something special for this brand steeped in heritage; creating the all new Partagas Ramon y Ramon blend.
Like the Macanudo Mao project, General decided to continue their seed regeneration program with the Partagas Ramon y Ramon. The blend uses an archived heirloom seed that’s crossed with a newer varietal in order to produce a new tobacco strain called PM01—a seed that retains all qualities of the vintage tobacco, yet is robust enough to resist disease. The seed underwent an extensive regeneration process in both Connecticut and in Mao tobacco regions; then selecting the plants with the best characteristics—resulting in retaining all qualities of the vintage tobacco, yet is robust enough to resist disease.
The Partagas Ramon y Ramon created as a tribute to the legendary Ramón Cifuentes Toriello who carried the Partagas brand from Cuba to the Dominican Republic, and thanks to General’s agronomists who were able to regenerated a vintage Dominican seed that had been locked away for nearly 50 years. But the Partagas team din’t stop there, they travelled to Cameroon, in Western Africa, to find a special Cameroon leaf grown in the Belita region. This high priming, sun grown wrapper that comes out of Belita’s red soil and a microclimate is different than any other Cameroon wrapper used by the company before, producing a darker, thicker leaf with a robust flavor profile.
The blend breakdown is consisted of a Belita Cameroon wrapper, a Dominican binder and a filler combination of the proprietary Dominican PM01 and some Nicaraguan tobaccos. Here’s your chance to taste a part of cigar history that Ramón Cifuentes Toriello creator of the Partagas brand intended.
