The Ortega Wild Bunch is born out of an idea Ortega had about the world of cigars. According to owner Eddie Ortega, "This is a project I've been meaning to do for a while and now just seemed the right time. During my time in the cigar industry, I've come to know quite a few out of the ordinary characters, to say the least. This series is based on some of the more illustrated characters in the group.”
The Ortega Wild Bunch series launched in January 2013 and consisted of 12 "characters" in total. One "character," or cigar, was released each month with only 500 boxes of each cigar being produced. Each new cigar in the release features its own unique blend and size, which matches the personality of the characters Ortega has come across in his time in the industry. The Ortega Wild Bunch cigars are made at the My Father Cigar Factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.
