AGING ROOM SOLERA CIGARS – By Boutique Blends
Rafael Nodal owner of Boutique Blends continues to create new and exciting limited production cigar blends. The Aging Room Solera cigars is yet another notch in his belt, a new blend that was inspired by the Solera aging method used for blending Sherry and Port wines in Spain; which Mr. Nodal witnessed first hand while on vacation.
Traditionally tobaccos are separated and baled together by tobacco type and harvest year before being packed away for aging. The Aging Room Solera instead takes different tobaccos from different harvest dates and packed them together in bales for aging. Rafael Nodal believes that integrating different tobaccos will result in a better, more consistent marriage of flavor; the tobacco gets some of the characteristics of the other tobacco. Only the binders and fillers, which are all Dominican, undergo the Solera aging process, while the Aging Room Solera will be available in four wrapper styles, Dominican Sun Grown, Dominican Corojo, Mexican Maduro and Ecuador Connecticut Shade which will add uniqueness to each blend.
The line will offered in three sizes; Festivo (4 3/4 x 52), Fantastico (5 5/8 x 54), and Fanfare (6 1/8 x 57). Aging Room Solera cigars are made in the Dominican Republic at Tabacalera Palma, owned by Jochy Blanco.
